Until the 2006 wildfire season in the US, I did not know how incredibly difficult being a firefighter was. My past year was spent following the news, looking at pictures, reading about and learning of this most difficult profession. I have fallen hard for a hot shot. I now have a better understanding and appreciation of what it takes to be a firefighter......hard work, dedication, courage, compassion, leadership, endurance, strength and determination. You all make me proud. So to my hot shot and to all firefighters, I say, "You are true heroes". Thank you, be safe, pray for rain.
